Pres spox says Russia continues attempts to eliminate poverty
MOSCOW, Jul 6 (PRIME) -- The pandemic hurts Russia's plans to eliminate poverty, but the government does not plan to sit back, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.
According to a PRIME survey, the share of Russians with earnings below the subsistence level exceeded 20% in 11 regions in 2019 with the Tuva Republic leading with 35% and amounted to 12% in Russia on average.
"I cannot responsibly comment on this survey by PRIME, I have not had a chance to make myself familiar with it. But concerning the subsistence level, you know, the fight for reduction of the number of those who are below it is among the main priorities of President (Vladimir) Putin and the government," Peskov said.
